The Yale of Beaufort is the third proof silver coin release in the new Royal Tudor Beasts Collection from The Royal Mint. The yale is one of the most distinctive beasts in this series. It is similar to a goat with an antelope’s body but has the tusks of a wild boar and the tail of a lion. It also grasps a shield displaying the arms of Jane Seymour, Henry VIII’s third wife.

The reverse of the coin was designed by the British illustrator David Lawrence. It features The Yale of Beaufort. It has a crown collar, signifying royal ownership, and the chain around the body demonstrates how the powerful creature has been tamed. The inscriptions “YALE OF BEAUFORT” and year of issue are included and “HAMPTON COURT PALACE ROYAL TUDOR BEASTS” is appeared on the coin’s edge. The obverse depicts the Jody Clark effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, and face value.
