The Wizarding World of Harry Potter brought many new concepts to popular culture around the world. Among them was the fantasy sporting event known as Quidditch. The game was and first seen in the HARRY POTTER movie Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It is a high-flying, fast-paced competition between teams of witches and wizards. One of the central victory points is the capture of the Golden Snitch, a feat that is typically accomplished only by the most gifted witches and wizards.

The reverse of the coin is a design honoring Harry Potters role in Quidditch. The design engraved his name “H. Potter” from the back of his Quidditch uniform, as well as his jersey number “07”. The Golden Snitch from Quidditch is featured at the center of the design element and is gilded with a layer of gold. Also includes weight, purity and the license trademark.

On the obverse of the coin the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief in the popular 1998 design from Ian Rank-Broadley. It also includes monetary denomination, year-date and issuing authority (Niue) of the coin.
