Discover the allure of the Australian Lunar Coin Series and add a touch of sophistication to your collection. The dragon is revered as a symbol of utmost reverence and admiration in the rich tapestry of Chinese culture. With a rich history spanning millennia, this timeless symbol has long been intertwined with royalty, representing profound wisdom, enlightenment, and a spirit of benevolence. Legend has it that the majestic dragon possessed the remarkable ability to control water and rain. Its influence on the bountiful harvests made it an esteemed emblem of prosperity and good luck. Individuals born under the Chinese Lunar Dragon sign are known for their ambition, success, and charisma. If you were born in 2024, 2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, or any 12th preceding year, these qualities may resonate with you.

Following ancient Chinese customs, a magnificent race was commissioned by the emperor, involving a multitude of Earth's creatures. The purpose of this grand event was to ascertain the deserving occupants of the 12 esteemed positions on the illustrious lunar calendar. To successfully finish the course, every animal was required to navigate across a swiftly moving river. As the frontrunner, the majestic dragon graciously paused to shower the people with rain, ultimately crossing the finish line in fifth position.

A serpentine dragon and a pearl of wisdom, represented by flames, are shown on the coin’s reverse. Stylised waves and water streaming from its jaws are artistic nods to the creature's mastery of the elements. The Chinese character for 'dragon,' the word 'DRAGON 2024,' and a 'P125' mintmark commemorating The Perth Mint's 125th anniversary in 2024 are also included in the design. The coin's obverse depicts Jody Clark's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the years of Her Majesty's reign (1952-2022). The obverse also includes the coin's weight, purity, face value, and country of issue.

The coin is housed in a classic display box with a geometric pattern on its transparent lid, accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity. The case is packaged with a dragon illustration on the shipper.

The Perth Mint's Australian lunar series is based on the Chinese zodiac's 12 animals. Coin collectors are obsessed with each annual issue, which explains the 12-year series' durability. The Perth Mint, founded in 1996, was the first to launch an Australian lunar coin programme. It's been so popular that it's been renewed for a third season. A 1oz proof silver coin, a 1/2oz proof silver coin, a 1oz proof coloured silver coin, and a three-coin proof silver coin set are all part of the Year of the Dragon series.

The rich heritage and magical mythology of the Chinese Great Race are the centrepiece of these beautiful silver collector coins from Australia.
