The scene portrays Saint George mounted on horseback, charging forward with a spear in hand as he confronts the mythical dragon in a dramatic display of courage and triumph over evil. Inspired by the original 1526 George noble coin, the design also incorporates a historic inscription “TALI DICATA SIGNO MENS FLVCTVARI NEQVIT”, which first appeared on the early English coinage, paying tribute to Britain’s rich numismatic heritage. The reverse also includes the coin’s weight, metal content, purity and the year of issue. The obverse depicts Martin Jennings’s effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, surrounded by the inscription “CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D” and the face value.
