When Her Majesty The Queen was crowned on 2 June 1953, ten statues were created to form a guard of honour at the entrance to Westminster Abbey. The Queen’s Beasts Coin Collection breathes new life into these mighty creatures that represent the British monarchy.
 
A symbol associated with qualities such as fitness and skill, as well as faithfulness and loyalty, the white greyhound was first used as a royal beast by Edward III. It became closely associated with the House of Lancaster before passing to the Tudor family. Henry VII, the first Tudor monarch, displayed the white greyhound to express both his Tudor and Lancastrian ancestry, through which he claimed the throne.
 
Designer, Jody Clark captures the white greyhound’s nobility, as well as its power and elegance. The obverse of the coin depicts the effigy of beloved British Monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
