The Canada 2026 Canada's National Parks: Torngat Mountains National Park 99.99% Coloured Proof Silver Coin 1oz celebrates one of Canada’s most remote and spiritually significant landscapes.
Derived from the Inuktitut word Tongait, meaning “place of spirits,” Torngat Mountains National Park is a land of extraordinary presence and raw natural power. Situated at the northern tip of the Labrador Peninsula, this vast wilderness spans approximately 9,700 square kilometres and remains largely untouched, with no roads and minimal human intrusion. Towering mountains, glacier-carved fjords, and sweeping tundra define a landscape that has long remained hidden from the wider world.
Struck from 1oz of 99.99% fine silver in proof quality, the reverse design captures the park’s dramatic beauty. A majestic caribou stands against rugged mountain cliffs beneath a shimmering aurora borealis rendered in vivid colour, evoking the spiritual atmosphere for which the region is renowned. A pair of iconic red Adirondack chairs anchors the scene, symbolising Canada’s national parks experience and inviting quiet reflection within this powerful environment. Encircling the design are the country of issue and inscriptions “TORNGAT MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK”, and “PARC NATIONAL DES MONTS-TORNGAT”, honouring the park’s name in both English and French and reinforcing its national significance. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, alongside the King’s name “CHARLES III”, face value, year of issue and “D.G. REX”, which is an abbreviation for "Dei Gratia Rex," a Latin title meaning "By the grace of God, King”.
