Overview
The Australian Kangaroo coin from the Perth Mint, introduced in 1986, is globally recognised for its symbolic kangaroo design and 99.99% purity, appealing to collectors and investors worldwide.

The Perth Mint has been producing the Australian Kangaroo coin since 1986. Before featuring kangaroos, these coins had a completely different motif. The Gold Nugget was Australia's first 99.99% pure bullion issue, released in 1986, and featured a different 'famous' Australian gold nugget for each year of issuance from 1986 to 1988. Starting in 1989, the design was altered to include a kangaroo, which is considered a more internationally known symbol of Australia.

The Australian kangaroo is a big marsupial mammal that is only found in Australia. Unlike other mammals, joeys grow up in their mother's pouch until they are 8 months old. The kangaroo's body is erect. It has short front legs, strong rear legs for leaping, and a long muscular tail for balance. The character of the kangaroo hopping forward portrays Australia as a country that is continually moving forward.

The coins are made of 99.99% fine silver and feature a different image of the iconic kangaroo on the reverse for each year of circulation. The obverse has Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's effigy, the year of issue, and the monetary denomination.

*Pure silver tarnishes when exposed to air. It could change colour to brownish-red, black, or show white spots. The trade-in value of silver bullion items won't be impacted by this. The trade-in value for silver collectibles will be subject to the quote made by Emperio Gold and Silver Coins (HK) Limited.
