When Her Majesty The Queen was crowned on 2 June 1953, ten statues were created to form a guard of honour at the entrance to Westminster Abbey. The Queen’s Beasts Coin Collection breathes new life into these mighty creatures that represent the British monarchy.
The Queen’s Beasts silver coins collection is a series of eleven coins from The Royal Mint, inspired by the ancestral beasts of heraldry, myth and legend. The coins’ designs are all animals or mythical beasts that British monarchs used to characterize and identify their families and allegiances.
Each of the beasts on the coin’s reverse stands proudly before the series’ signature shields to boost the strength and endurance of the royal line. The series is complete with a special coin reuniting all ten beasts in one design. These coins were all designed by the outstanding engraver Jody Clark. He also designed Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 5th portrait. The obverse for each of the coins depicts the effigy of beloved British Monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
