A baby’s christening marks an official welcome to the world, and as Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge is baptized, The Royal Mint issued this commemorative coin in her honour. Struck to Proof standard in strictly limited numbers, this is a very special way to remember the arrival of the new princess. 

 

The coin’s reverse was designed by seasoned coinage artist, John Bergdahl. Echoing the christening coin for Prince George, the design depicts cherubs heralding Charlotte’s arrival, her name on a cartouche, surrounded by details inspired by the Lily Font used in royal christenings since 1841, a French phrase is scrolled along the bottom of the coin. This intricate design is paired with the fifth coinage portrait of The Queen, Charlotte’s great-grandmother, on its obverse. A wonderful memento of this special moment in the life of the young princess.
