This 2024 coin celebrates the dragon, which holds the fifth position among the 12-year lunar calendar and is said for its powerful leadership, creativity, and decision-making abilities. The reverse of the coin features a Chinese dragon leaping amid towering waves, its winding body resembling a dragon-shaped mountain range rising from the sea. With a commanding presence and vibrant eyes, the dragon's posture exudes strength and spirituality, symbolising a guardian of the earth, showcasing China's traditional dignity to the world. The design also includes the Chinese character for 'dragon' (龍), the inscription 'DRAGON 2024', and the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the 'P125' mintmark honouring The Perth Mint's 125th anniversary. The obverse depicts the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the issuing country, weight, purity, and face value.
