When Her Majesty The Queen was crowned on 2 June 1953, ten statues were created to form a guard of honour at the entrance to Westminster Abbey. The Queen’s Beasts Coin Collection breathes new life into these mighty creatures that represent the British monarchy.
The Queen’s Beasts Collection is a series of eleven coins from The Royal Mint, inspired by the ancestral beasts of heraldry, myth and legend. The coins’ designs are all animals or mythical beasts that British monarchs used to characterize and identify their families and allegiances.
Recast on coins, The Queen’s Beasts Collection has celebrated each of these animals in turn and although the line-up of coronation beasts is now complete, they return for one last time, presented together as a complete ten-coin set. The last release in the series, “The Completer’ reunited all ten beasts in one design is also included. This 2oz proof silver coins set is new, all dated 2021.
Each coin features a queen beast stands proudly before the shield to boost the strength and endurance of the royal line. The coin’s obverse depicts the effigy of beloved British Monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
