As the Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II upheld a promise she made in which pledged her heart and devotion to the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. For the past 70 years, The Royal Mint has had the privilege of striking coins for a monarch loved and revered by millions of people around the world. In honour of Queen Elizabeth II’s incredible life and legacy, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Coin Collection features three representative reverse designs that pay tribute to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The “50 Pence Range” pays tribute to British coinage heritage and the memory of Queen Elizabeth II, seventy years after she acceded to the throne. The reverse of this coin was inspired by the 1953 Crown, issued to mark the late Queen's coronation. It shows a crown in the centre of an emblematical cross, formed from a thistle, rose, leek and shamrock. The four shields bear the arms of Scotland, England and Ireland. It was designed by artist, Edgar Fuller and modelled by sculptor, Cecil Thomas. The obverse shows the new effigy of King Charles III as designed by British sculptor and calligrapher Martin Jennings, year of issue and face value.
